Listening to and enabling others

As a child, Joanna was slightly deaf. Following an operation and speech therapy, her speaking and hearing became normal. This experience, she thinks, sparked a lifelong fascination with the sound of words and the way people speak.

She runs mindful classes to help others speak English confidently at Morley College London, and marvels at the many languages and accents this world has to offer.

Background

Joanna has an Honours Degree in Modern Languages, and has worked for over 20 years producing multilingual video stories for organisations focusing on international human rights, development, environment and wellbeing. She and her husband speak Polish, English and Polglish at home with their two children.

Refuge to the man is mind. Refuge to the mind is mindfulness.
